Optimization of Finishing Process in Denim Fabric Manufacturing Plant

Enamul Haque*, Suja Uddin Kaiser, Rajib Kabiraj, Bokthier Rahman, Al-Amin and Abu Hanif

The main factors affecting consumers when selecting denim garments are aesthetics, appearance, and fashion. In addition to these aspects, denim clothing's comfort and functionality while being worn are crucial. In order to maximize the production of cotton-elastane denim fabrics, the goal of this article is to optimize various finishing methods. This study's research design comprises of an experimental investigation. Two different types of fabrics were chosen for analysis in order to determine the potential savings of finishing on the performance characteristics of fabrics. Using chemicals and modifying the basic materials, the finishing process can be made more efficient. The study's findings unmistakably demonstrated that the improved method is effective for producing denim fabric. The literature study revealed that there were few research examining denim materials' finishing procedures all at once. This study examined the impacts of finishing process optimization on the mechanical, thermal, and mechanical comfort parameters of drape, stiffness, and tear strength.

Study the Impact of Rove Strand Surface Contact on Flyer Top and Roving Spacer Size on Ring Yarn Properties

Mebrahtom Teklehaimanot*, Kiday Fisseha and Lemlem Tikua

The project focuses on the study the impact of the roving strand surface contact on flyer top and the spacer size on yarn properties. For the study 100% cotton fiber which 0.7Ne roving and 23Ne yarn were used. The different flyer top (front flyer top, conventional back flyer top, and modified back flyer top) and the roving spacer sizes (spacer size 4mm, spacer size 5mm, and spacer size 6mm) were used to produce a rove (0.7Ne) that were processed in to yarn. The produced yarns are tested in Almeda Textile Company spinning laboratory for different parameters. The modification of the conventional back flyer top is achieved by equalizing the surface contact of the rove strand on the front and back flyer tops. From the analysis it is found that low surface contact of rove strand on flyer top (conventional back flyer top) and higher spacer size has a significant effect on rove evenness, yarn evenness, and yarn strength compared to the modified back flyer top and smaller spacer size. These yarn properties are improved by modifying the conventional back flyer top and by using the smaller spacer size. The modification of conventional back flyer top is not only used to improve the yarn property but also used to reduce the number of sensors (light barriers) which controls the rove ends down in the roving machine.

Lead Time and its Minimization for the Betterment of Bangladesh RMG Industry

Mohammad Ashiquzzaman Khan

With the appearance of modern information and communication technology, the effects of physical frontiers are diminishing. Markets are continuously globalized and new competition is gradually entering the market with new and more creative products and services to compete with existing products and services. A variety of main key export and importers from Asia, Europe and the Americas make the clothing industry highly globalized. Besides, the product life cycle of apparel goods is rapidly decreasing, with many fast-fashion items. As a result, the time allowed for design on the market decreases over time and the length of order issue date to shipment date is reduced directly by the supplier or manufacturer of readymade garments. The design and marketing phases of Bangladesh readymade garments manufacturers are not concerned with the supply of raw materials for manufacturing clothing to shipments at Chittagong port. The presence of established competitors and the Bangladesh garment industry has been no longer enjoyed in the US market since 2005 with new competitors' arrival; the garment company is becoming increasingly competitive in quality, cost and lead time.

Selected Research Briefs on the Fabrication of Value Added Composites Using Recycled Textile Waste as Reinforcement Material

Radhakrishnaiah Parachuru

The main findings of a select group of research publications which focused on the use of recycled textile waste as reinforcements in fiber-polymer composites are summarized in this paper. The summary covers the use of recycled fibers, yarns, fabrics and garments as reinforcement materials and common commodity polymers as matrices. It also briefly talks about the fabrication techniques used and provides a highlight of the property enhancements, perceived need for further improvement of select properties and the potential applications of the fabricated composites. The main objective in preparing this summary is to provide useful, easily accessible and readily understandable information in one place so that interested entrepreneurs around the globe can work to expand the composite manufacturing industry, especially that of affordable composites that use recycled textile waste as reinforcement material.

Design and Development of Composites Based on Basalt/ Aramid Fibers for High Temperature Applications

P. Thangeswaran*, P. Chandra Kumar, R.R. Nagul Prasad and S. Gowtham

Composite materials are typical engineering materials that are designed and produced for a variety of purposes in consumer products, the marine and oil sectors, sports goods, aircraft parts, and automotive components. The global market for composite materials is expanding due to the use of lightweight components. Steel and aluminum were replaced with composite materials that performed better. This makes the discovery of novel materials possible by fusing several components into a composite structure. Although rising nations will create a new reality as they enter the composites fray, the increasing rivalry will result in quickly evolving and complicated marketplaces. The global composite materials industry is growing quickly. Since composite materials have significantly reduced weight, they are utilized for structural applications and parts of all spacecraft and aircraft, from combat planes to the space shuttle and passenger jets to gliders and hot air balloon gondolas. The design of high-performance, cost-effective aircraft will be aided by the creation of next-generation composite materials that are lightweight and resistant to high temperatures. Creating composite materials based on nano filler epoxy resins to create structural aeronautic components that effectively guard against lightning strikes. The preparation of the epoxy matrix involves combining a tetra functional epoxy precursor with a reactive diluent, which lowers the moisture content and speeds up the dispersion of the nano filler. The reactive diluent also proves to be beneficial for improving the curing degree of nano filler epoxy composites. Evaluation of the performance of 100% Basalt, 100% Aramid, and Basalt and Aramid fabric follows development and testing of the relative mechanical characteristics. Using finite element analysis, epoxy hybrid composites are employed in aerospace applications and are compared to other composite materials now available for usage in passenger aircraft.
