Ovary Transplant

Ovary transplant is an exciting new development and is seen as an option for women who want to postpone children until they are ready ovary could be removed before starting this treatment then theoretically, this could be transplanted back into their body and restore their fertility.

The procedure involves the removal of an ovary which is frozen and placed in storage until required at a later date. This ovary is then thawed out slowly and transplanted back into the body. The reason this technique works so robustly is that all the woman’s eggs are located not within the ovary, but on the outside capsule. So we are not really freezing and thawing the ovary. we are just freezing a thin piece of ovary tissue very much like a simple skin graft. Ovary transplantation therefore is an outpatient procedure that involves minimum pain, similar to the original ovary freeze.
